Road safety

Do something

To make sure you stay safe on the roads, you can follow a few simple rules:

  • don’t use your personal stereo or mobile phone when crossing roads
  • don’t try to text and cross the road at the same time
  • use a crossing wherever possible – and wait for the traffic to stop before stepping out
  • don’t expect the traffic to avoid you – make sure you avoid the traffic.

You can also take a cycle training course to improve your safety on two wheels – see above for details.

Transport for London is providing funding to make sure there are safe walking routes to many of London’s schools. Find out about the Safer Routes to School programme and make sure your school is involved:
