For many young Londoners, being attacked on the streets is a very real fear. You may know some one who has been attacked, or know of an attack that has taken place in your neighbourhood, and that may make you afraid that you will be next.

A survey of 3,000 young people in London found that violence and unsafe streets were their top worries. They said that these were the areas that they wanted the London children's rights commissioner to focus on.

In fact, the risk of being attacked is fairly low. But there are a number of things you can do that will make you safer - and may help you feel safer - on the streets.
