Bullying

What's the Mayor doing about bullying?

The Mayor thinks bullying is a serious issue but what is he doing about it? The Mayor wants to stop children and young people from being picked on and treated unfairly and show how good it is that everyone is different. He wants to do this by encouraging people to involve children and young people in anti-bullying and anti-discrimination projects at school, such as Bully Watch London.

Safe play areas - The Mayor is also planning to publish guidance for local boroughs on how to provide safe places for young people to get together and play. This guidance is in its draft stage at the moment. When it has been published it will be available on the GLA website.

Bully Watch London

The Mayor of London in partnership with the charity Beatbullying, Association of London Government and Transport for London has launched a new campaign - Bully Watch London- to advise Londoners on how they can safely assist and help young people.

The campaign was launched with the help of Chantelle Houghton, a Bully Watch London supporter who encourages all Londoners, not to ignore the problem but to help others when they are being bullied.

The campaign encourages all kinds of people who might see or be aware of bullying in London - including bus drivers, station managers, park attendants, shop managers and religious leaders, as well as many others - to work together to start intervening to stop bullying.
