Get fit? Why bother?

There are many reasons for exercising – and not just because you like hanging out at the gym. Here are some of the main ones:

  • Being fit will make you look better – toned muscle always looks better than a wobbly belly or a saggy bottom.
  • Being fit will keep you healthy – it’s good for your heart and your lungs, and it will mean you have more energy to do the things you want to do.
  • You will be able to concentrate better at school. You might be surprised, but exercise is even good for the brain, as being fit and healthy will help you concentrate better and stay awake in classes.
  • It’s good for your future. Being fit when you’re young will make it much easier to stay fit when you’re older.
  • It can be good for your mood. Exercise releases endorphins in the body – and these chemicals can make you feel good. You will probably also feel better about the way you look if you exercise regularly.
