Shopping ideasYoung Londoners are spoilt for choice when it comes to cool places to shop. Whether you want to find something nobody else has at one of the many markets or if you’re looking for one of your high street favourites there’ll be something to suit you. Market madnessLondon markets are so colourful that you can enjoy yourself window shopping and browsing the stalls without actually buying anything. Here is a quick low-down of some of the best. Spitalfields Fashion Market In the City, near Liverpool Street Station, Spitalfields Market is a great place to come if you want to browse through some unusual clothes. There’s tonnes of places in the market where you can pick up something cheap and tasty for lunch so it’s a great way to spend a day with friends. Camden Market Camden is home to six different markets. Browse Camden Lock to find games, puzzles, music and films – great for presents! Go to Camden Buck Street Market to find alternative clothes, jewellery and fashion accessories. Covent Garden Market Wander past street performers in the square before heading into the glass-covered market where you can find handmade jewellery and posh shops. It might be a bit expensive around here but it’s worth taking a peek every now an then. Portobello Road Market Come over to Portobello road to soak up the atmosphere as you munch on hot snacks sold in the stalls. Walk down the hill (away from Notting Hill Station) to find second-hand clothes bargains and unusual jewellery. High Street hipMost London boroughs have their own high street full of familiar shops. But for the biggest range of high street shops, prepare to elbow your way through the crowds on Oxford Street. If you work your way up to Oxford Circus you can dip in to Soho and visit Carnaby Street to see more funky fashion shops. Covent Garden is more pricey but you can find a good range of shops. For a quieter shop head for High Street Kensington or Upper Street in Islington. Happy clothes hunting! |
