The British Museum

Open since 1753, the British Museum has an amazing collection of artefacts from around the world. See statues from Easter Island, and one of the earliest known images portraying Christ.

It is free to get in and current exhibitions include Inhuman Traffic: The Business of the Slave Trade that explores over 500 years of slavery.

Imperial War Museum

The national war museum was opened in Crystal Palace in 1920 to display material from the First World War. The museum later moved to the central portion of Bethlem Royal Hospital, or Bedlam, as it was commonly known.

Science Museum

Founded in 1857 with objects shown at the Great Exhibition, the museum is today one of the most famous in the world.

All children must be accompanied by at least one adult, and no adult may bring more than five children. Bookings: 020 7942 4749. The cost of the day is £25 per child and £5 per adult. All days feature an IMAX film included in the price.
