Eating right

Wise food advice

  • Fill up on the healthy stuff, not the stuff that's bad for you. Baked potatoes, pasta and fruit salad are all healthy, tasty and filling.
  • Healthy doesn't have to mean horrible! Nobody likes cabbage that's been boiled to within an inch of its life. Try tasty fresh peas, sweetcorn, cherry tomatoes, and crunchy peppers.
  • If you think pies are pukka but potatoes are puky then think again - give vegetables a second chance! There are so many to choose from that you could hit on a winner. Try out vegetables like sugar snap peas, sweet potato, parsnips, curly kale and mange tout.

Dealing with snack attacks

Picture the scene: it's mid-afternoon break and there's a rumble in your tummy. Which foods are best at beating the snack attacks?

While crisps, sweets, chocolate and chips are all yummy, they are a quick fix and only keep you going for a short time. If you choose a piece of fruit (fresh or dried), and drink some fruit juice, then you'll get the energy you need, lots of vitamins, and you'll be able to keep going till teatime.
