Young Londoners on bullying
'Bullying is a problem, but we have sorted it out at my school. We have made a system to stop it. Bully buddies stop bullies and if you have a problem you just tell them and they help you. I think this should be enforced in every school to reduce bullying to the minimum.'
Jonathan, age 11
'We can make London better by stopping bullying in schools. We have a system in our school called bully buddies: every year, responsible children are chosen to become a bully buddy. They stop bullying and sort out situations in the school. If it gets out of hand too much the head teacher then deals with it. Bully buddies don’t only stop bullying in the school: they help children who don't behave properly or who have nobody to play with.'s
Lucy, age 11
'We can make London better by controlling bullying. I know that this is a big issue, but something needs to be done about it. Our school has children bully buddies (year 6). There is no bullying in our school but if there was it would get sorted out straight away.'
Jade and Shreena
'In our school we have a bully buddy system. If someone is being bullied they come to one of us. We don't have many bullying situations and we think this is because of our bully buddy system. Some people are too scared to talk to any adults so it is better to talk to someone their age. This suggestion should be encouraged in other schools across the city.'
Monica and Lauren
'It (bully buddies) is a good idea because then a child will be happy going to school and have a good education instead of bunking off because they are scared that a bully will bully them.'
Laura, age 11
