The Mayor's Children and Young People's Unit
It is the job of the Mayor's Children and Young People's Unit to make sure all these things happen e.g. creating more play spaces and
giving you the opportunity to have a say about London. Our Unit wants to make sure the strategy works.
The Mayor's Children and Young People's Unit, in the Mayor's Office, was formed in April 2004. The team of five members is based at
City Hall.
Introducing the team:
Caroline Boswell, Head of the Unit. Caroline concentrates on planning the Unit's work, agreeing what we do, the budget and looking at what we should do next.
Rikki Garcia is the unit's Programme Manager with responsibility for the Mayor's Youth Offer. He makes sure that local councils and charities that provide services for young people funded by the GLA are well supported. He is also working on ways of helping to improve services for young people across London.
Jason Lever is the Unit's Senior Policy Officer. He works on issues such as child protection, police and community safety and emotional health and well-being. His job involves checking to make sure the Mayor's strategy is being put into place.
Safia Noor is the Unit's Policy and Projects Officer. Safia looks at issues such as play, sport and bullying. It is her job to make sure events such as Activ8 in August at Hyde Park are good fun.
Rebecca Palmer is the Unit's Strategic Development Officer for Children and Young People's Participation. Her role is to support the Mayor and the people that work for him to involve children and young people in making decisions about how London is run. She also makes links between the Mayor and local participation projects and young people's groups.
Sean Creamer is the Unit's Events & Administration Co-ordinator. He organises events, has been working on the development of this website and makes sure all letters and emails that come to the Mayor asking him questions about London are answered properly.
