About us

There are nearly 1.73 million children and young people in London. This means almost a quarter of all people in London are under 18 years.

The Mayor produced a draft children and young people's plan in April 2003 and asked Londoners what they thought of it. Over 1,000 young Londoners wrote to us or emailed with their suggestions and ideas on how London could be made better for you.

Young Londoners said there wasn't enough space to play, that parks needed to be safer and better looked after. You wanted more sports and activities for older children and young people and cheaper and safer public transport. You also wanted a say in how London is run and to know that you were being listened to.

All your comments and suggestions were looked at and used to help write the final strategy, the Mayor's Children and Young People's Strategy 'Making London Better for Children and Young People'. The strategy is made up of different parts and describes what it is like to grow up in London and what the Mayor will do to make things better for children and young people. The strategy is for children and young people aged from 0 - 18 years.

The Mayor has now reported back to young Londoners on what has been done so far. You can download 'All Change! - How the Mayor is improving London for children and young people' to find out what's been done.

You can use this website to have your say about London on a range of issues including health, sport facilities, music and film.
