Petitions

You can ask an Assembly Member to forward a petition to the Mayor, functional body or other relevant organisation on your behalf. Information on Assembly Members.

The Member may then present the petition to a meeting of the full Assembly where Members can vote on whether to forward it with a request for a response.

Any response received will be reported to the Assembly and passed to the petition organiser.

If you are organising a petition, you should ensure that every printed sheet includes the petition’s formal request and the name, address and signature of each petitioner. Petitions organised on the internet should give petitioners’ names and email addresses and demonstrate that the petitioners knew what the formal request of the petition was.
