Our annual report sets out the work of the Assembly over the year to April 2012.
The report details how we've looked at the actions of the Mayor and his advisers, and the finances and performance of City Hall and London's transport, police, fire and regeneration agencies.
We have summarised our work under the following headings:
16 March, 2012 - 14:30
In November 2008 the Mayor produced his Time for Action proposals designed to tackle serious youth violence.
This report assesses progress made to date and the future prospects for the programmes that make up Time for Action: Project Daedalus; Project Brodie; Mayor’s Scholars; Project Titan and; Project Oracle
9 December, 2011 - 09:00
The Mayor has provided £50m for regeneration projects in town centres affected by the disturbances, with the Government providing £20m specifically for Tottenham and Croydon. A further £40m could be available as part of the Mayor’s ongoing Outer London Fund. This ‘capital funding’ is a one-off lump sum.
While welcoming the investment in physical regeneration, the Committee supports the Mayor’s view that long-term ‘revenue funding’ is also needed to pay for schemes that support local residents and address underlying problems like the high level of unemployment.

Our annual report sets out the work of the Assembly over the year to April 2011 in a number of key areas.
The report details how we've looked at the actions of the Mayor and his advisers, and the finances and performance of City Hall and London's transport, police, fire and regeneration agencies.

However, the Assembly’s Budget and Performance Committee’s report Policing in London highlights the risks of moving staff from valuable support functions, as it could reduce the force’s overall effectiveness.
24 January, 2011 - 09:07
The Budget and Performance Committee calls for more information on longer-term funding projections, and how the decisions the Mayor is making now about funding fit with future expectations.
While the Mayor is looking to protect front-line services, the sheer scale of cuts to grants and the savings required will inevitably have an impact on the services Londoners receive.

This Health and Public Services Committee report warns of significant pressure being placed on the capital's health and emergency services during London 2012. Planning is hindered by uncertainty over funding because of potential cutbacks and because organisations had to make funding bids without official estimates on visitor numbers. The report notes that London Fire Brigade is already estimating a £900,000 shortfall for planning around the Games.
16 June, 2010 - 09:00
Swine flu caused 85 deaths and affected more than 120,000 people in London, with one in every 50 Londoners receiving a course of antiviral medication.
It says while London’s health organisations were generally effective in handling swine flu during 2009/10, a number of issues must be tackled to improve the way future pandemics are dealt with.
The committee has drawn up a list of essential questions to be followed up with NHS London to feed into their work to improve the response to future waves of the H1N1 virus or other pandemics. The questions include:
