Assembly response to Cultural Metropolis: priorities for culture 2009 - 2012

The Economic Development, Culture, Sport and Tourism Committee's response to the Mayor’s ‘Cultural Metropolis: priorities for culture 2009 – 2012’ , which sets out his vision for culture in London and his key priorities for this area.

The Committee highlighted a number of issues that we would like the Mayor to address in his full draft Culture Strategy including:

• Full details of all funding available for the Cultural Olympiad and how small voluntary and community organisations will be able to access this funding;
• Clear details of the budget and staffing resources available to the London Cultural Strategy Group;
• More details of how the Mayor will address barriers faced by certain groups wanting to work in the cultural sector.

A more detailed response to the Mayor’s full draft Culture Strategy will be published when it is released.
