Assembly reports

Accessing downloadable documents such as reports, committee papers

A large number of documents are available for download from this website - for example reports, strategy documents, committee papers, minutes of meetings. The majority are made available in two file formats -  Portable Document Format (PDF) and Rich Text Format (RTF). The notes below summarise the difference between these file formats, to help you decide which to use.

PDF - Portable Document Format

PDF files maintain the original formatting and layout of the document. Files includes all images: pictures, maps, graphs, etc.

Users must have PDF reader software installed on their computer in order to open these documents; if not available via your web browser, this software is available free of charge from the Adobe website. Information about alternative PDF reader software is available at http://www.pdfreaders.org/.

Users with visual impairments who make use of text to speech software may encounter problems when using PDF files. The access.adobe.com website provides tools and information to help make Adobe PDF files accessible to users with visual disabilities.

RTF - Rich Text Format

RTF files may not maintain the original formatting and layout of document.
Images - pictures, maps, graphs, logos - are removed.
Files are readable with most current word-processor software.
Files may be larger than PDFs and therefore slower to download.
