Policing and Security costs

The Assembly's role
The London Assembly, made up of 25 Members elected by Londoners, has a responsibility to monitor the preparations leading up to the 2012 Games and the legacy that will be left for the capital.
In particular, the Assembly has a role because of the Mayor’s involvement - he is signatory to the Host City Contract and has promised significant legacy benefits for London – and the fact the GLA Group is providing funding for the Olympics and GLA bodies are involved in delivering related infrastructure and services.
The Assembly’s objectives are:
- to ensure the bid document commitments are honoured
- to secure value for money for Londoners
- to maximise the lasting legacy the Games will bring to the city.
