As part of our work on his budget, each year we take a look at the Mayor's fares decision, which affects everyone who uses public transport in London.

2012 fares

As part of its ongoing scrutiny of the Mayor’s budget plans, our Budget and Performance Committee looked at the Mayor’s 2012 fares decision which fed into its Pre-Budget report, published on 18 October 2011.  The Mayor increased bus and Tube fares overall by inflation plus 0.6 percent in January 2012.

On July 19 2011, the Budget Monitoring Sub-Committee questioned TfL about an underspend for the past financial year and how it could use this money.Watch the webcast.  On 9 June 2011, the Committee also questioned senior members of TfL about its Business Plan and the annual fare rises assumed in the plan.  Members also asked about the implications for Londoners of proposed increases and recent trends in fares revenue and demand.  Watch the webcast
