The Mayor and Transport for London, supported by the six Olympic and Paralympic host boroughs, have published their plans to ensure that the 2012 Games transport plans leave a permanent transport legacy to benefit millions of people and support economic development for generations to come.

'Leaving a Transport Legacy' sets out the physical and behavioural transport legacy from the Olympics and the plans to monitor and develop these in the future to ensure the legacy in embedded in the area.

The Mayor has warned the Government that the nation faces economic paralysis unless a new hub airport is built in the southeast of england.

He has published the second of what will be a series of reports examining why more aviation capacity is needed. The latest report sets out in the greatest detail yet provided why there is an undisputable economic argument that greater aviation capacity is required both by the capital and the whole of the UK.

The severe winter weather experienced in the capital during 2010/11 caused damage to the Mayor's strategic roads by producing fresh defects and worsening existing defects. In recognition of the additional pressure this placed on highway authority budgets, the government, through the Department for Transport (DfT), made extra funding available in March 2011 for highway maintenance in English local authorities; of this £1,832,910 was awarded to the GLA for TfL's strategic roads.

The Mayor’s strategy to improve transport safety and security in London sets out priorities for improving safety for transport and travelling in London from 2010-13. The plan covers travel on public transport, cycling, road safety and walking.

 The Right Direction brings together the work of TfL, MPS, BTP and City of London Police to work together so that Londoners to feel safe for the whole journey; door-to-door.

London has, and continues to experience, a serious rise in the number of dangerous and status dogs. These are increasingly being used in crime and as weapons for intimidation - ‘weapon’ dogs.

There has been an increase in attacks on young people and Londoners feel that it is only a matter of time before someone is killed. The media regularly reports attacks on people and incidents in parks; rumours circulate about dog-fights and chain fighting; and residents are concerned about damage to trees from dogs being trained to be aggressive.
