In March 2012, the Mayor adopted a planning framework for the Vauxhall / Nine Elms / Battersea Opportunity Area.  It is Supplementary Planning Guidance to the London Plan.

The framework has been produced in collaboration with Lambeth and Wandsworth Councils, as well as TfL and English Heritage.

The framework has been altered to respond to matters raised during the public consultation process that took place in the winter of 2009/10.

Section 346 of the Greater London Authority (GLA) Act 1999 places a duty on the Mayor to monitor the implementation of the Mayor’s London Plan. The Annual Monitoring Report (AMR) is the central document in the monitoring process and assessing the effectiveness of the London Plan.

This eighth AMR published by the Mayor is the first that supports the new London Plan published in July 2011. This introduces six new strategic objectives, and a new suite of 24 Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) to monitor delivery. These KPIs are at the core of this new-style AMR (see chapter 3).

The London's Foundations Supplementary Planning Guidance has been published.

London’s Foundations (2009) was a joint publication with Natural England setting out London’s geological heritage, explaining the process for identifying sites of national, regional and local geological importance, identifying important geological sites for protection and advising boroughs on how to promote as well as protect geodiversity.

The London Plan 2011 sets out policies to conserve and enhance London’s World Heritage Sites and their settings, and states that the Mayor will produce guidance on defining the settings of London’s World Heritage Sites.

Mayor agrees CIL to commence on 1 April 2012

On 29 February 2012, the Mayor agreed his CIL charging schedule, accepting the recommendation of Keith Holland, the independent examiner.  The levy will apply to developments consented on or after 1 April 2012, and will be collected by London boroughs once development commences.

The Mayor has published his draft Supplementary Planning Guidance (SPG) on Land for Industry and Transport for public consultation.

This draft document sets out proposed guidance to supplement the policies in the 2011 London Plan (LP) relating to land for industrial type activities and transport. The SPG provides advice on how to implement these policies, in particular LP Policy 2.17 on Strategic Industrial Locations, Policy 4.4 on Managing Industrial Land and Premises; and Policy 6.2 on Providing Public Transport Capacity and Safeguarding Land for Transport.
