When London won the bid to host the 2012 Olympic and Paralympic Games, the Mayor stated that these Games would be the most “accessible ever.” Ensuring the benefits of the Games reach some of the most deprived parts of London – and leave a genuine legacy – is at the heart of Games.
We have sought to make this a reality through the London 2012 City Operations and planning for the legacy. These papers illustrate this Mayoral commitment to this and also demonstrate our compliance with the General Duty arising from the Equality Act 2010.

Strategic Regeneration Framework - east London

Olympic Park Legacy Corporation - statement by the Mayor following public consultation

The Mayor's London Plan identifies the Olympic Park and surrounding area as 'London’s single most important regeneration project for the next 25 years'. Between February and April 2011, the Mayor conducted a public consultation on his proposals to establish a Mayoral development corporation to drive regeneration and development in this area.

The third annual report from the London 2012 Equality and Diversity Forum reflects on the equality and diversity achievements of the forum members over the last year. The forum consists of a number of stakeholders including the Greater London Authority, the Olympic Delivery Authority, the London Organising Committee of the Olympic Games and Paralympic Games, the Olympic Park Legacy Company, the London Development Agency, and the Government Olympic Executive.

Inclusive and Active 2 is the new five year, Londonwide strategy with a vision of active disabled Londoners.
It has been created in partnership between the Greater London Authority, NHS London and Interactive, the lead strategic development agency for sport and physical activity for disabled people in London. It aims to build on the success and profile of ‘Inclusive and Active’.

From the outset of the bidding process it was the declared intent of the organisers to deliver “the most accessible Games, ever”. It is the forum’s objective to make good on that promise.
A Sporting Future for London

London’s successful bid to host the 2012 Olympic and Paralympic Games was in no small part based around a commitment to using the Games to transform the sporting landscape of this country.
It was hoped that the Games would be used as a catalyst to drive up participation across the country and help to tackle issues such as obesity, ill health and crime.
There are now just over three years remaining until the Games start. With this document, the Mayor of London is seeking to play his part in ensuring that the commitment is fulfilled.
Proposition for a Centre for Research and Learning on the Olympic Park

The Mayor Boris Johnson and the Government have published a proposal to create a world-beating research, learning and innovation centre in the Olympic Park after the 2012 Games. The centre will build on east London’s Olympic legacy and focus on digital media, green technologies, science and sport.
