Co-funded by the European Social Fund, the GLA's new Youth programme focusing on skills, employment and training to support vulnerable young Londoners was launched on 27 February 2012.  The deadline for Stage 1 applications is 5pm on  21 March 2012.  The prospectus detailing the programme and the funding process is available now.

Each year the Mayor publishes a Budget Guidance document to aid the GLA and GLA group in preparing their budgets for the next financial year.

The Annual Report is published in two parts. The main report is accompanied by a series of appendices setting out more detailed information on the performance of the GLA and wider GLA group. The documents together meet the Mayor’s statutory requirements under the GLA Act.

Londoners’ priorities

The top priority for Londoners this year is education and training. Related issues such as job creation and youth opportunities have also become more important to the city’s residents in 2011.

Crime, safety and policing still remain high in terms of public priority but Londoners are less worried about crime in their local areas and feel safer walking alone at night in their neighbourhoods.

The Mayor's London Employment Action Plan outlines five key ways in which jobs and skills opportunities for all Londoners can be improved. These include welfare reform, making work pay, clearer public sector support, a stronger role for the Mayor on skills and employment in London and using the jobs and skills created by public procurement and building on the commitment by the GLA group and London boroughs to deliver 5,000 Apprenticeships by 2012.

When Londoners go to the polls in the GLA elections, the results can deliver a change of Mayor and changes in membership of the London Assembly. This may bring a different set of priorities and political direction to City Hall.

The EUROCITIES ‘Integrating Cities Charter’ underlines the commitment of Europe's cities and mayors in addressing migrant integration through their roles as policymakers, service providers, buyers of goods and services and employers.  The Charter was launched and signed at City Hall in London on 22 February 2010 at the fourth EUROCITIES conference hosted by Mayor of London, Boris Johnson, and the European Commission.

The Charter sets a shared vision for cities all over Europe:
