Strategic Plan

Strategic Plan 2011-2012

The Mayor’s vision is to make London the ‘best big city in the world’. The purpose of the Strategic Plan is to turn that vision into reality.

The Strategic Plan is reviewed each year. For 2011-12 we have decided to publish an update to the 2010-2012 plan. It covers two main areas.

First, it is an overview of the programmes, projects and other initiatives that we will progress over the course of the financial year. These are known as the GLA’s ‘deliverables’ and they are structured under five priority themes:

  • Standing up for London
  • Making the most of London 2012
  • Making London safer
  • Improving Londoners’ quality of life
  • Investing in young Londoners

Second, it explains how we will direct our resources and the objectives of the GLA’s units. This part of the plan is referred to as the GLA’s ‘budget book’.

The Strategic Plan assists us to review our progress; both in terms of whether we are delivering what we said we would and if we are doing so to the financial parameters we have set.

Strategic Plan 2010-2012

The Strategic Plan 2010-12, published in May 2010, is in two parts. In the first part you can find out about what ambitions the Mayor and the GLA have for London and what the priorities are in each of the five key areas of work. In the second part you can read more details about what the GLA is going to deliver and when. Each project has clear objectives, budget and a timetable explaining when different milestones will be reached.
