Let’s talk crime and safety
We recently launched the new Mayor’s Office for Policing and Crime (MOPC) which replaces the Metropolitan Police Authority in governing policing in the capital.

Team London exhibition at City Hall
Team London is our programme to boost volunteering in London. The public have nominated hundreds of volunteers for a Team London star certificate and thanks from the Mayor. This exhibition showcases some of these Team London stars. Come and read their stories, find out how you can get involved and read our latest Team London star blog from Nicky Wilson who helps kids read.
Public meetings at City Hall
There are three London Assembly meetings open to the public at City Hall this week. On Tuesday morning, the Economy, Culture and Sport Committee will look at skills and employment opportunities for Londoners during the Games (10am, Committee Room 5). The following day, the Health and Public Services Committee are set to examine some of the key issues facing London’s children in care (10am, Committee Room 5). Finally on Thursday, the full Assembly will discuss the Mayor’s budget for 2012/13 (10am, the Chamber).

Maslenitsa, 26 February
Everyone’s invited to Trafalgar Square to celebrate the Russian folk festival of Maslenitsa, which marks the end of winter. This traditional family event will feature a children’s marquee, dance, theatre and music performances, a bustling bazaar selling Russian handicrafts, and stalls where you can sample authentic Russian dishes. St Patrick’s Day, 18 March
The Mayor’s St Patrick’s Day Parade and Festival takes place on Sunday 18 March 2012. One of London's liveliest celebrations, last year over 100,000 joined the festivities. Applications for the parade must be submitted by 10 February 2012. All successful applications will be notified by 17 February.
