LDA faces grilling about extra millions needed for Olympic land
14-9-2009   458

To find out how the extra costs arose, and the implications for the London Development Agency’s (LDA) programmes, the London Assembly Economic Development, Culture, Sport and Tourism (EDCST) Committee will tomorrow question senior representatives of the LDA.

The LDA is facing an extra spend of nearly £160 million on costs associated with purchasing land for the 2012 Olympics site, according to an independent report published by KPMG last week. [1]

From 10am on Tuesday, 15 September 2009, the EDCST Committee will question:

  • Harvey McGrath, Chair, London Development Agency
  • Peter Rogers, Chief Executive, London Development Agency

Following this session, the Committee will continue its investigation into whether the Mayor is delivering on making the right skills and training available to the rising numbers of unemployed Londoners to help get them back into work. [2]

From 11am (approx) the Committee will question:

  • Harvey McGrath, Vice-Chair, London Skills and Employment Board
  • Stephen Evans, Director of Skills & Youth, London Development Agency
  • Philippa Langton, Regional Skills Director, London Learning and Skills Council
  • Patrick Hughes, Director for London, Jobcentre Plus
  • Pam Chesters, Mayoral Adviser on Health and Youth Opportunities

The EDCST Committee meeting will take place on Tuesday 15 September from 10am in Committee Room 5 at City Hall (The Queen’s Walk, London SE1).   Media and members of the public are invited to attend.   The meeting can also be viewed via webcast at: http://www.london.gov.uk/assembly/webcasts.jsp
