Mayor appoints new Adviser on Health and Youth opportunities

The Mayor of London, Boris Johnson, has today announced the appointment of Pamela Chesters as Adviser on Health and Youth opportunities.

Pamela is currently Chair of the Royal Free Hampstead NHS Trust, one of the largest NHS trusts with a budget of over £450m, which was awarded a double excellent in the latest Healthcare Commission Annual Health Check ratings.

Pamela has extensive experience of working with vulnerable children and chairs the Council of Trustees of one of the largest children’s charities in the UK, Action for Children, (formerly NCH).

Mayor Boris Johnson said, “Pamela has tremendous insight into services for children and young people that deliver real change. She will be a great asset to my team who are dedicated to boosting youth opportunities; tackling youth crime and helping youngsters achieve their full potential. Pamela will also address serious health inequality issues in the capital.  I promised to make young people my priority and I’m now pleased that I have a full team in place to help provide the fundamental long-term change for vulnerable children in the capital that is profoundly needed.“

Pamela Chesters said “I am delighted to be joining the Mayor’s team, and supporting his ambitious objectives to enhance the opportunity for London’s youth. I am also looking forward to working with key partners in tackling the health inequalities which are all too evident in the capital.”

Pamela will take forward the Mayor’s work for young people alongside Kit Malthouse, Deputy Mayor for Policing and James Cleverly, Mayor’s Ambassador for Young People.
