Press Release

Rise - 2008 line up announced
16-6-2008   298

This year's Rise festival takes place in Finsbury Park on Sunday 13 July, with another eclectic line up of music from around the world.

Amongst those performing at this year's festival are CSS, whose new album 'Donkey' is due out in July, a unique opportunity to see for free one of the most exciting bands on this summer's festival circuit.

Sharon Jones and the Dap-Kings are bringing their own inimitable brand of R&B and funk, and there is upbeat psychedelia inspired pop from The Aliens.

There is a performance by reggae legend Jimmy Cliff, back in the limelight with the stage version of The Harder they Come currently in the West End, and there is a live set by TY, featuring No.Lay and Bashy.

The Dub Pistols, featuring Terry Hall and Rodney P a are also on the line up, bringing their mix up of hip-hop, dub, dance music, ska and punk, along with vintage teen rockers Kitty, Daisy and Lewis, whose single 'Going Up Country' is out in July. Beardyman is making a special appearance hosting the main stage.

More information about Rise and Rise Week, which includes events across the capital in the run up to the festival, will be released shortly. Information will be available at www.risefestival.org.

The Rise festival is a free event celebrating diversity, organised by the Greater London Authority and supported by Canary Wharf, Transport for London, British Transport Police and Kato Enterprises. Additional sponsorship is being sought; organisations wishing to find out more about sponsorship opportunities should email lucinda.mee@london.gov.uk.
