Facilities in Trafalgar Square
In recent years, the square has undergone dramatic changes and its facilities have been improved. The north side of the square was pedestrianised in 2003 and the central staircase built, creating a large terrace at the top of the square. A café, lifts and public toilets were also part of the changes. Eating and drinkingWhat better place to enjoy a drink or snack than in London’s most famous public square? The Café on the Square offers a range of freshly-made and locally-sourced food, as well as hot and cold drinks, at affordable prices. It is open every day, from 10am to 6pm and is at the bottom of the central staircase, to the right as you face the National Gallery. Look out for the café’s seasonal promotions – with drink offers and edible gifts from October onwards. The café is wheelchair accessible, and has an induction loop. Public toiletsPublic toilets are situated on the west side of the square at the base of the central staircase. They are open daily from 8am to 8pm. From the north terrace, the toilets and the cafe can be accessed by lift.
