Celebrating the contribution of Deaf and disabled people to London's culture

The Liberty Festival 2009 will see Trafalgar Square transformed into an accessible performance space showcasing the talents of Deaf and disabled artists. Visitors can expect an exciting programme of performances and workshops with zones for street arts; comedy, cabaret and spoken word; music; visual arts and children’s arts plus food, stalls and displays. Highlights will include new work by Marc Brew Company and Extant (both pieces developed in association with Greenwich and Docklands International Festival), aerial dance performance by Blue Eyed Soul plus live music from Spaceships are Cool, Denise Leigh and Minika Green.

Liberty welcomes everyone and is organised to be inclusive and accessible. A range of facilities and services are available on the day, including:

  • Disability awareness trained stewards
  • Programmes in different formats
  • BSL interpretation and audio description
  • Induction loops at information points
  • Wheelchair loan service
  • Free parking nearby for blue badge holders (bookable in advance only, email: liberty@london.gov.uk )
