Climate change

London is already feeling the effects of climate change. It is particularly vulnerable to flooding, subsidence, overheating and to water supply shortfalls.

Climate change will increase the probability and severity of these events through rising sea levels, heavier winter rainfall, higher tidal surges, hotter summers and less summer rainfall. The exceptionally high concentration of people and assets at risk means that any extreme event will have major consequences.

The impacts of climate change will be detrimental to the quality of life of all and particularly to the health and social and economic welfare of vulnerable people. Collaboration is needed at international and national levels as well as within London itself.
