Cleaning and greening London

Help make London a cleaner, greener city

One of Team London’s objectives is to improve quality of life in London through volunteering programmes that make London a cleaner and greener city. When our communities are free of rubbish and graffiti; when we stroll down tree-lined streets and parks; when we grow our own food – or food for our neighbours; these are all things that make us happier and healthier as individuals and stronger as communities. The following three Team London projects offer a range of activities. Take a look and get involved – for an afternoon, a day, or a lifetime!

Capital Growth

Capital Growth will see at least 2,012 new community food growing spaces by the end of 2012. Projects are based in locations across London including small parks and gardens, schools, roofs, businesses and even a floating barge in the Regent’s Canal. With Capital Growth, you can grow your own food while regenerating neglected corners of the city. The programme offers grants, practical help, training and advice. Volunteer with Capital Growth!

Londoners Love Trees

Londoners Love Trees is part of the Mayor’s goal to see a 25% increase in London’s tree cover. We’re looking for more than 4,000 volunteers to plant 9,000 new trees, maintain existing trees, and help set up new tree warden groups and tree nurseries. Volunteer with Londoners Love Trees.

Capital Clean-up

Through Capital Clean-up, people across London are working together to make the public spaces in their communities cleaner, safer and greener for the 2012 Games and beyond. You can pick from hundreds of events including Thames riverbank and canal clean-ups, litter picks, habitat restoration and graffiti removal. Help clean up the capital!
