Refugee integration in London

Mayor’s strategic leadership Stakeholder consultation, 2006

Introduction

The Mayor of London will be responsible for strategic leadership of refugee integration work in London from April 2006. From 24 February to 24 March an online questionnaire invited responses to draft plans about the Mayor’s leadership role and the high-level Board for Refugee Integration in London (BRIL) that he is setting up to help him carry out this work.

Consultation questions

The Mayor wanted to hear a range of views about this new work so he emailed this questionnaire to refugee communities, voluntary sector organisations, London boroughs and selected Members of Parliament. The consultation asked for views on the following five key questions:

  • The Mayor’s view of refugee integration
  • The terms of reference for the Board for Refugee Integration in London (BRIL)
  • Proposed work themes for BRIL
  • Refugee community membership on BRIL
  • Link bodies between BRIL and work on the ground

Next steps

A summary of the consultation responses will be made available to all those who responded. Further information about the Mayor’s refugee integration work will be made available on the GLA website in the coming months.
