Proud to be Pat

Learning that the name is fast heading out of even the top 300 UK baby names, making it just one generation away from extinction, Irwin’s Bakery is spearheading a ‘Proud to be Pat’ campaign in the run-up to St Patrick’s Day, calling on anyone named Patrick (or any of its 28 male and female derivatives) to stand up and be counted!

Proud Paddies are asked to help fill a special ‘Paddy Field’ that will be set up at the St Patrick’s Day celebrations at Trafalgar Square on 16th March to set a record for the world’s biggest show of Paddy strength, with all funds raised going to help the much-loved Great Ormond Street Hospital. Sympathetic ‘non-Paddies’ can also participate as Irwin’s is inviting anyone not fortunate enough to be named Paddy at birth to make the ultimate gesture by changing their name by deed poll for the big day or even permanently! The public can also register their support for the campaign, and pledge a donation, online at www.proud2bpat.com.
