Trafalgar Square Fountains and Lighting Project

Trafalgar Square fountain - photo by James O Jenkins Date: March to May 2009
Venue: Trafalgar Square
Description: Spring 2009 will see the start of restoration to one of London's most iconic landmarks in the heart of London - Trafalgar Square. Work will commence on restoring and conserving the two iconic square fountains and introducing modern sustainable lighting to the square, reducing the carbon footprint of the site by up to 90%. Following on from the award winning and innovative partnership between the GLA and Zurich Insurance on restoration of Nelson's Column (won Climate Change category at the IVCA Clarion Awards 2006), the GLA is seeking a new official commercial partner to create a more atmospheric and sustainable square. The partner will benefit from co-branded sponsored hoarding and site presence in one of the world's greatest outdoor spaces which is enjoyed by over 13 million visitors a year as well as launches and presence over the busy Christmas and New Year period.
