Responsible Procurement policy

City Hall and the Scoop

In June 2006, the GLA Group launched their Sustainable Procurement Policy to support the delivery of the Mayor’s vision for London. In January 2008 the Policy was renamed "Responsible Procurement" to reflect the emphasis the policy places on the social, economic and environmental objectives in ensuring best value in procurement across the GLA Group.

The policy reflects the volume of work until 2009, when the Mayor launched his Responsible Procurement Vision and delivery plan for London.

Working within this framework, we have refocused our approach and priorities under the new Mayor of London. In 2008, we agreed a new delivery plan for action. It sets out commitments in three themes: our people, our businesses and our city. Desired outcomes are described, underpinned by measurable targets and a timetable. Each of the GLA functional bodies now report quarterly to the Mayor’s office on their performance against the plan.
