Equal Life Chances for All

The Mayor of London launched the consultation of his Equality Framework: Equal Life Chances for All. This Framework sets out the key policies and processes that the GLA Group has for delivering equal life chances for all.

Equal chances in procurement
The GLA Group will lead by example in using procurement as a mechanism to achieve equal life chances for all through what the GLA Group spends. This will be implemented through the GLA Group Responsible Procurement Policy.
The GLA Group will ensure that equal life chances for all are implemented through appropriate GLA Group contracts and across organisations that supply goods, works or services to the GLA. We will promote Diversity Works for London to the private sector and increase the number of businesses - including suppliers to the GLA Group, who secure equality and diversity accreditation and ultimately achieve the Diversity Works for London gold standard.
We will help businesses, particularly small ones, get fit to compete and win contracts with the GLA Group and across London, and help sustain their businesses through prompt payment.
The Responsible Procurement team will produce a baseline review in March 2009 which will include provision on the equality agenda.
