Revised London Housing Strategy for public consultation

13 DECEMBER 2011

The Mayor has published a draft revised London Housing Strategy for consultation with the public. The document sets out more details on policies which the Mayor is setting out to help meet his aim of empowering people and transforming places. It is available to download below.

The 12 week consultation period runs until 6 March 2012.

Since the Mayor published the first statutory London Housing Strategy in February 2010, a new investment period has begun, there have been major changes to the allocation of government funding for housing and there are significant changes proposed in the Localism Bill, including significant new housing and regeneration powers for the Mayor. The 2010 strategy has now been reviewed, a number of areas have been identified where change is needed, and a revised housing strategy is being produced. In August 2011, the Mayor’s initial proposals for this new strategy were published for consultation with the London Assembly and GLA Group. The Mayor has made his formal response to the Assembly’s comments on these initial proposals, and this is also available to download below.

As part of the policy development process, the Mayor has carried out an Integrated Impact Assessment including an Equalities Impact Assessment and the full reports from these assessments are below.

The 2011 version of Housing in London, the evidence base for the London Housing Strategy has also been published and can be downloaded below
