Letter to the Mayor: Improving London’s orbital rail network

30 JULY 2010

The Transport Committee has written to the Mayor setting out its findings from a review of the delivery of improvements to the orbital rail network that will link 20 London boroughs and play an important role in the capital’s public transport system.

The Transport Committee is supportive of TfL’s ongoing work to improve London Overground services.

However, our review has shown that, whilst the network is being improved, passengers may not yet be experiencing all the benefits nor being given sufficient opportunity to contribute their views and ideas for enhancing the network further.

Despite financial constraints, the Committee notes there is a need for more investment in the network if it is to realise its full potential.
