Changing how we travel and embracing new technologies is key to making our city cleaner, greener and happier.
Reforming our city’s transport to create a greener future
We aim to reduce London’s greenhouse gas emissions by 60% from their 1990 levels by 2025. Tackling transport will play a major role in us achieving this goal.
Smarter travel
We’re helping businesses, schools and individuals to cycle, walk or take public transport rather than using cars to get about.
Cycling revolution
We are helping more Londoners to get on their bikes! More cycle parking, a Cycle Hire scheme in central London and Cycle Superhighways are just some of the ways we are making cycling easier and safer.
Making walking count
We’re making it easier for walkers to plan their journeys through schemes like Transport for London’s ‘Legible London’ project. We are also making our streets safer and less cluttered for pedestrians and promoting the health benefits of getting around on foot.
Encouraging clean technologies
We’re introducing hybrid buses and encouraging more people to try electric vehicles.
Deterring high polluting vehicles
London is a Low Emission Zone – which means high polluting vehicles have to pay to enter. We are developing the scheme to help improve London’s air quality.
