When the Mayor takes over an application for his own determination he must hold a public hearing before he decides whether or not to grant planning permission.

Following a notice from Southwark Council on 18 November 2011, that it is minded to refuse planning permission for the redevelopment proposals at Eileen House, 80-94 Newington Causeway, the Mayor notified the Council on 1 December 2011 that he would act as the local planning authority for the purposes of determining this planning application (under article 7 of the above Order and the powers conferred by Section 2A of the 1990 Act).
The Mayor will now be conducting a further round of public consultation on the application. Following this a representation hearing will be scheduled for the Mayor to consider this application in more detail and to determine whether or not planning permission should be granted.
