Sky Orchestra

To mark one year to go until the 2012 Olympics the Mayor of London teamed up with the London International Festival of Theatre (LIFT) to bring UK artist Luke Jerram's Sky Orchestra to the city. A fleet of seven hot air balloons formed a flying orchestra, playing music specially composed by Dan Jones to delight and enthrall Londoners as it flew overhead. The Sky Orchestra event helped kick off one of the most amazing years in London's history. During 2012 the city will host the best of the world's sporting talent at the Olympics and Paralympics and more than 12 months of extraordinary cultural events and celebrations. Sky Orchestra also marked LIFT's 30th anniversary for groundbreaking – and in this case uplifting and gravity-defying – productions.
