The difficulties in the housing market have created major challenges for delivering new housing, with many developers finding it hard to raise the capital to fund new development.

The Mayor is working with developers to develop creative and innovative approaches to ensure that London delivers the homes it needs in the current challenging market and beyond.

Investing in housing

We are promoting investment in housing by private sector institutions. This would have several benefits including:

  • helping to fund new housing
  • raising the quality and standards of accommodation
  • promoting better management of the homes provided.
