Building strong relationships to make London healthier

Reducing London's health inequalities relies on strong partnerships with expert organisations.

Working with the main players in health and social care and building on their expertise and existing programmes is the only way we can improve the health and wellbeing of all Londoners.

The Mayor

The Mayor has no direct control over London's health and social care services. However, he works closely with the NHS, boroughs and other organisations to ensure that London is getting the care it needs. He also has an impact on health through his powers over planning, housing and transport.

NHS London

The NHS in London is the capital's health authority and manages the majority of its health and social care services. It is made up of different organisations including 31 Primary Care Trusts, 31 acute (hospital) trusts, 10 mental health trusts and the London Ambulance Service.

GLADA

The Greater London Alcohol and Drug Alliance (GLADA) is a partnership of expert organisations working together to overcome drug and alcohol misuse in the capital.

Joint Action Group for Alcohol in London (JAG)

The JAG was established by GLADA to support the delivery of the Regional Statement of Priorities. It is made up of senior representatives in London with the skills and expertise to address particular aspects of alcohol related harm.

Community Voices for Health

Community Voices for Health will supports ongoing engagement and learning about health priorities and programmes with London's voluntary and community sector.
