Managing the demand for water in London

To balance London's demand for water, we need to cut the amount of water we consume and reduce leakage from the mains water network.

Using water wisely and well

Our city’s growing. London’s population is expected to rise from 7.63 million now to between 8.89 million by 2031. As our number grows, so does our demand for water. Which makes it all the more important that we manage our use of water wisely and well.

The aim should be to value every single drop.

To this end, we are focusing on minimising leakage and maximising water efficiency.

In London we use more water than the national average – 161 litres per day versus 150 litres per day. All the more reason for us all to look for ways to use less.
