London’s environment needs to be maintained and protected and its resources (water, energy and waste) used more efficiently. We are working hard to reduce air pollution and greenhouse gas emissions in London, to help tackle climate change and increase the city’s resilience to extreme weather. We are also enhancing London’s green and open space and developing the capital’s ‘green economy’– all with the aim of improving Londoners’ quality of life.

The Mayor has committed to plant an additional 10,000 street trees by March 2015. Applications are now open for round three of the Mayor’s Street Tree Initiative and the RE:LEAF Community Grant Scheme.
