In October 2011 London hosted the world’s largest, international skills competition where young people from across the globe compete to become the best of the best in their chosen skill.
Supporting WorldSkills London 2011
The Mayor is working with WorldSkills to support the event and to raise awareness of WorldSkills opportunities for Londoners and businesses.
The event will bring together thousands of young people from over 51 nations to compete in 46 skill areas ranging from creative arts and fashion to transportation and logistics over four exciting days of competition. Every community and business thrives on skills, enterprise and inspiration, and WorldSkills will demonstrate the possibilities of gaining new skills and inspire people to gain the expertise needed for London and the UK to compete internationally.
Organisers are expecting 150,000 visitors and 1,000 competitors from 50 nations competing in 45 skill areas over four exciting days of competition. The event will offer visitors the opportunity to have a go at dozens of skills ranging from electronics to plumbing, creative arts and fashion to cabinet making.
WorldSkills London 2011 will be at ExCeL London from 5-8 October 2011.
