Lobbying Government and Parliament

A champion for London

The Mayor is a champion for London, lobbying national government, UK parliament and others, to support this great city to make sure they do what they can for London and Londoners.  We’re working to secure sustained investment in improving London’s infrastructure and to ensure that London receives the resources and powers it needs to tackle the capital’s problems.

Campaigning role

Because of its size and status as the capital of the UK, London is obviously affected to a large extent by decisions made elsewhere. The Mayor campaigns, and works with partners, to help inform and coordinate effective advice and lobbying initiatives on any issues which potentially affect London, to prevent our capital city suffering from decisions over which it has no direct control.

We also ensure we have an effective voice in national legislation that affects London, and that the Mayor’s policies are properly taken into account in the development of law and in the UK’s parliamentary debates and inquiries.
