Many organisations, agencies, authorities and businesses are working together with the Mayor and GLA to help ensure London remains one of the best big cities in the world.

Working together for London
Many different authorities, agencies and government departments, along with business leaders and organisations, work to help keep London healthy, vibrant and successful.
The Mayor plays a central role, looking to coordinate their efforts and activities to reduce waste and duplication and ensure that their investments of time, effort and money generate the greatest possible benefit for the city and its people.
The extent of his control varies. The London Development Agency and Think London work directly with the Mayor - he sets their strategy and guiding principles and budgets. The Mayor’s influence is more indirect with other organisations, such as the Homes and Communities Agency and the Olympic Delivery Authority. He may chair or sit on governing boards, but their budget and ultimate authority comes from central rather than city government.
Similarly, boroughs and local authorities work in partnership with the Mayor and the GLA, but retain their autonomy. And while many businesses devote a lot of time, energy and money to the benefit of London, they do so on their own terms.
From this overlapping patchwork of investment and dedication and endeavour emerges a partnership for progress that sustains, improves and continually revitalises our great city.
