The Mayor and LDA will work with partners to ensure that London gains the fullest possible lasting benefit from the 2012 Games.
Ensuring lasting benefit from 2012
A unique regeneration opportunity
The 2012 Olympic and Paralympic Games offer London a unique regeneration opportunity. The Mayor and the LDA are determined that the events of 2012 should not only be a great success at the time, but should leave a substantial legacy of lasting benefit to London and Londoners.
The Olympic Park and surrounding areas in the Lower Lea Valley, including Stratford, are London's top regeneration priority. The 2012 Games offer a great foundation for the development of the area and East London generally, as well as encouraging volunteering, tourism and wider sports participation.
Supporting the legacy, building the community
The Mayor and the LDA will work closely with the Olympic Park Legacy Company and other partners to develop the Olympic Park in a way that delivers substantial and enduring economic, social and environmental benefits, particularly to those suffering deprivation in the host boroughs, which include some of London's least prosperous.
The Legacy Masterplan Framework being developed by the Olympic Park Legacy Company will reflect the Mayor's approach to planned regeneration, with an emphasis on high quality design, good housing for local families and an excellent environmental and social infrastructure.
The Olympic Park, related sports venues and the International Broadcast Centre should with the help of further investment and associated developments at Stratford City, Canary Wharf and the Royal Docks, provide a powerful boost to the regeneration of the entire East London region in the years ahead.

The London Assembly examines the delivery of the promised legacy benefits of the 2012 Games, producing regular reports on progress.
