Festival City: Celebrating the 60th anniversary of the Festival of Britain
The Story of London festival celebrates the capital as a place of heritage and culture, as well as a cutting edge city of change and new ideas. This year, the Museum of London has teamed up with the Southbank Centre to mark the 60th anniversary of the Festival of Britain.
Five London borough museums – Brent, Barking & Dagenham, Haringey, Redbridge and Wandsworth – will recapture the spirit of the Festival of Britain, which was held to show a progressive view of post-war Britain and celebrate national culture and tradition.
Sixty years later, these London museums will show how their boroughs celebrated in 1951 so you can relive the original festival, enjoying retro events with a 21st century spin.
