London Assembly member, Victoria Borwick, today calls for expansion of aviation capacity in south east England.

 

Launching her report into what the Government should consider doing, Mrs Borwick said:

London Assembly member, Victoria Borwick, has said this morning that the time for building a new airport in the Thames estuary has passed and that the Government should look at quicker alternatives to boost aviation capacity in south east England. Instead she is suggesting that Heathrow and Gatwick are linked by an air-side 15minute high-speed rail line; that a second runway be built at Gatwick and that greater, more efficient use is made of the smaller airports that surround London.

Victoria Borwick, London Assembly Member, today called on the Mayor of London to support the campaign against the flawed proposals to close the children's cardiac unit at the Royal Brompton Hospital. The Mayor gave his full backing to campaigners in their efforts to ensure the hospital retains its paediatric and cardiac units, and made an undertaking to do what he could to supplement the efforts of those already campaigning on the subject. The Mayor recognised the international reputation of the Royal Brompton.

The Mayor’s decision to scrap the Western Extension of the congestion charge zone has boosted businesses in west London, Victoria Borwick AM revealed at Mayor’s Question Time today.

 

In the first few month of the year since the Western Extension was scrapped, reports suggest that some west London firms’ takings have risen by between 20 and 30 per cent.

Londonwide Assembly Member, Victoria Borwick has welcomed Boris Johnson’s announcement of £50m to boost regeneration in outer London town centres.

 

The move will allow councils to bid for funding to aid the regeneration of town centres, like Enfield Town, in Enfield, and Wood Green in Haringey.

 

The money can be used to aid the development of land, maximise transport infrastructure investment and improve town centres for the people who live and work there.

News from Victoria Borwick: Victoria Borwick welcomes decision on Greenhill Way buses

Victoria Borwick AM, London Assembly Member, has welcomed Transport for London’s decision to retain and improve the 182 bus route along Greenhill Way, as part of its changes to bus routes in Harrow Town Centre.

 

TfL had proposed to re-route five bus services away from Greenhill Way to allow two-way operations along Station Road.  However, in response to local concerns, the 182 bus route will be retained southbound along Greenhill Way, and will also now serve it northbound.

 

Victoria Borwick AM: Give Mayor control to save Enfield’s train services

London Assembly Member Victoria Borwick has today called for the Mayor of London to be given greater powers to manage London’s rail network in the interests of the capital’s commuters.
