Tony Arbour, London Assembly Member for Richmond, Kingston and Hounslow, will today press the Mayor Boris Johnson to reaffirm his commitment to oppose a 3rd Runway at Heathrow. The Government are presently holding a consultation on the future of aviation policy, and will be considering a number of options for expansion of runway capacity. Tony Arbour AM has today called for Surbiton and Kingston stations to be moved from transport Zone 6 into Zone 5, which could save commuters travelling from those stations hundreds of pounds a year.
Kingston’s London Assembly Member, Mr Arbour believes the stations are in the wrong zone considering there are 23 stations in Zone 5 that are further out of central London than either Kingston or Surbiton stations which are in Zone 6.

Tony Arbour AM asked Boris Johnson to make sure town centres in Richmond and south west London are first in line for his £50m outer London regeneration fund at City Hall today.
Speaking at Mayor’s Question Time in City Hall, Mr Arbour made the case for places like Twickenham, which would benefit most from investment to improve local shopping areas and help people get to them more easily.

London Assembly Member for Richmond, Kingston and Hounslow, Tony Arbour has welcomed Boris Johnson’s announcement of £50m for regeneration in outer London town centres.
The move will allow councils to bid for funding to aid the regeneration of town centres, like Twickenham, Hounslow and Surbiton.
The money can be used to aid the development of land, maximise transport infrastructure investment and improve town centres for the people who live and work there.

Plans for a development tax on new buildings across London to help pay for Crossrail have been criticised at City Hall today.
Speaking after a meeting of the Assembly's Transport Committee, Mr Arbour said: “If this building tax goes ahead, residents will lose money that would have been spent on local services and infrastructure.”
Local councils would usually ask developers for a financial contribution for local improvements and services as a condition of planning permission.

At Mayor’s Question Time today, Tony Arbour AM condemned the £29.4m of bonuses paid by the Metropolitan Police last year to officers for “doing their jobs”.
London Assembly Member for Richmond, Kingston and Hounslow, Mr Arbour said: “It’s outrageous that millions of pounds of public money has been paid in bonuses to police officers for ‘good attendance’ and ‘working as a team’. These are basic parts of working life – bonuses should not be handed to officers just for doing their jobs.”

Tony Arbour, Assembly Member for Richmond, Kingston and Hounslow, has backed Boris Johnson's comments made at the Local Government Dinner at Mansion House last night that London Underground does not need highly-paid drivers once new technology is installed across the network.
Under the upgrade programme, large parts of the Tube network will no longer need manual drivers as the trains will be controlled by a remote computer, with those riding in the cab acting as attendants.
